Term V: Final Portfolio
Home
With the school year coming to a close, it is time to pull together as much as possible from my year-long master’s program in Elementary Education at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. I spent the year at Samuel Powel Elementary School, a kindergarten through 4th grade public school in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Although it is impossible to find words to give justice to all I have learned, this is my attempt to put into one location the memories, lessons, and information I am going to take with me as I start my journey with my own classroom in the fall.
As an individual, I have grown so much over these past ten months. Aside from being a teacher, I have met so many great people that I know will be in my life for a long time. It is hard for me to leave my comfort zone, but this year has helped me realize all the benefits of putting myself out there: meeting new people, trying new things, and expecting the unexpected. Choosing to go directly from my undergraduate work to a graduate program was one of the best decisions I ever made. It is so rewarding and inspiring to surround myself with people who share the same hopes and passions because they motivate and encourage me to be the best teacher and person I can be. The readings, discussions, and classes have confirmed my ambition to pursue my career in the world of education in an urban environment.
