Thinking about the future is beneficial for students. Students wrote about what they wanted to be when they grow up at one of the stations.

Naming a Mystery Citizen encourages students to always do their best.

Certificate given to students to take home and show parents/guardians.

Written record to keep track and make sure everyone has a turn.
9. Daily Goals:
Daniel Pink states that when students see the purpose, they are more motivated and engaged. Setting daily, personal goals encouraged students to stay focused on what they wanted to achieve.

Each student was named a critical part of the classroom. Jobs were announced with positive character traits that students embody.

These are pictures from Career Day on April 5 when family and friends spoke to students about their role in the community and the importance of finding what you enjoy to do.

Community building activity that does not necessarily focus on academics, but research shows short activities like this can have long-term positive effects on students.

Community building activity that encourages confidence and allows students to verbalize their feelings.
15. Brain Lesson (YouTube):
With Dweck's research as inspiration, I talked with students about how our brain needs to be exercised in order to grow. We do not have a fixed mindset.
16. Brain Lesson (PowerPoint):
The overhead projector was not working so I showed students a PowerPoint about our brain and what it looks like before and after different activities.
